Strawberry chou chou

Sneaks of my outfit post coming up below.

Last sunday, I was invited to my kindergarden's friend matrimony (:
it's so fast how time passes, when it we held hands and skipped down the kindergarden class alley, when we celebrated our birthdays together in class, when we knocked our butts together as we walked, when it was first day in my primary school and I was so sad cos I thought I can't get to see her again, and that burst of joy when I see her sitting at the Q of my P1 class

Congratulations my dear friend, I am so happy for you to have found true love and to be there to witness your holy matrimony

Met le bf for lunch at Choupinette after hearing many raves about it

Brunch set comes with any fruit juice and any hot drink! yayys

I chose hot choco and orange juice

Love the coloured chalk on the chalkboard. Just like primary school classes

super cute sugar packs in a tarnished watering can

Baskets of breads and pies. Most of the pies were sold out by the time we reached them in the afternoon

Love the french deco of this cosy little cafe

Eggs Royal for me! which features smoked salmon and poached eggs in hollandiase sauce.Love the fusion of the salty smoked salmon with natural taste of the egg, topped with creamy hollandiase

Le bf had quiche in spinach and bacon, finished with salad tossed with balsamic vinegar and mayo ( i think!) The quiches were lovely but it was too big of a slice for us! We should have just ordered one slice of quiche ala carte instead of the set ( 2 slices of quiche and salad)

As we were about to stand up to foot our bill, the waiter came and gave us a dessert. On the house!
I was quite disappointed initially as it just looked like one fluff of bread and I was secretly hoping to have yummy cakes.

But this fluffy ball is delicious! The soft pastry literally melting into my mouth as I sank my teeth into it. It was really yummy and not the tough bread-like texture I was expecting. And the best part. it has strawberry jam inside. yummmsss.

But they were a tad too generous with the servings of icing sugar. It was like..

snowing fluffyball!

oops caught on the camera

Snowing fluff ball is actually strawberry chou chou!

Le bf and I were still speculating why we had complimentary dessert. Was it because of the long q? or was it because we changed seats to allow a bigger group to dine in by joining 2 tables. Or was it that they almost gave us the wrong idea? Or was it that my tunic was too pretty? Le bf guessed that maybe they thought I was a food blogger cos I was happily snapping photos away. haha

but who cares! we had complimentary yummy desserts!
yumms!

A short outfit post featuring my latest GREAT buy!

Great is an understatement. it should be AWESOME!

snagged this great deal at

$30 NOPE
$20 NOPE
$10 NOPE
$5 NOPE
THREE FIVETY FIFTY

so excited I couldn't spell!

It all happened when I met up for dinner with T lately, and she excitedly told me about her great buy at Cotton on! a $3.50 top! And i'm like OMG I wanna see!

and after she showed me, I went, OMG I wanna buy!

So we headed back to ransack the good deals at Cotton on and I phsychoed her to get this top in cream white. I mean, its only $3.50! and white and studs are also pretty! though black and studs show better contrast, this is only $3.50. And it is so easy to match.

It was really like a deal tht's so good I wanted to cry. No kidding!

I also got 2 other pieces, skater skirt in black and zebra prints as I long wanted a skater skirt but most of them are either too pricy or too short. But with the amazing 30% off storewide at cotton on, the skirts are a good deal!

This is NOT a sponsored post ( though I wished it is. sniff)

Shall post the outfit photos featuring my new loot soon!

The start of our 2nd nice food hangout place we had last week (following the first from kombi rocks since my bf got to drive as his buddy was out of town. Yayness)

We headed to brussels sprouts at East Coast Park since we had the joy of driving around and heading to less shopping-centre-crowded-with-people places.

First on the menu for dinner was this sweet fruit wine-grape flavoured which the waiter introduced.

Tasting

Tasted

Satisfied!

The drink turned out to be pretty good, much like alcoholic ribena. I love it!
Many a times it is either too much like fruit juice, or the wine taste is too overwhelming.
But for this, the concoction of the grape and alchohol is just right for me

Le bf made friends with our doggy neighbour behind

Who doesn't love moustache rings? they are so fun to play with!

We ordered a small portion of mussels (since brussels sprouts is famous for that!) in the flavour of gratinee, which cooking ingredients included cheese and eggs( i think).Love the cheesy flavour. But I think I prefer the boiled ones that I had with Angeline the first time I dined at brussels sprouts.

Love the complimentary serving of fries that came with the mussels. Not the usual kinda skinny fries from macs or KFC! You can actually taste the soft potato beneath the batter and I love that, lightly salted

I couldn't remember the name of our mains but it comprised of medium cooked duck breast, with small potatos, baby carrots, beans, onions

The sauce was quite good, but I didn't enjoy the mains that much as I kinda had sensitive teeth which makes my jaw hurt quite a bit when I chew too much.

And the duck was pretty chewy.

But nonetheless, i loved the meal, the ambience, and of course the company (:

The meal set us back a decent $70+ but I reckon, once a while, we deserve a pamper for ourselves!

Kombi vrooooms

It's been more than a month since le bf sold away his car. But for these 2 weeks, I would have more chances for cafe exploration. yayys! cos he's buddy is away in Europe for a holiday with his gf and my bf gets to drive his car (:

So for our dinner last friday, we decided to do some cafe exploration near our place at

Kombi rocks

This little cafe that can probably house 40-60 people including the outdoors was well furnished with vintage decoration. Love the old school wooden tiles, beatles posters in a simple frame, and random vintage bikes and bicyles in the cafe.

I really like the old-school cursive wordings of the couple, finished with a pink heart in the beatles photo.

Somehow I was very proud of my little observation that the words are arranged in the manner of guy ♥  girl, but when I said it, I said girl ♥ guy

OH dear. whats happening to my brain! It doesn't synchronise with what i wanna say

A pity we came in the evening and it was raining that night, thus they covered up the vintage pink van that sits outside the cafe ):

We ordered mee goreng($6), fish maw soup ($13) and red wine chicken wings ($15)

The mee goreng was average, nothing very fantastic, but it was alright considering the price and the ambience(: We noticed that quite alot of other customers ordered that too.

Red wine chicken wings were supposed to be one of the signature dishes in the cafe, but perhaps we were too full from the fish maw soup we couldn't really appreciate much of it.

I really really love the fish maw soup, as I seldom get to drink this dish outside. But the servings were pretty huge for the 2 of us. I think there were a total of 8 small bowls! The first 2 bowls tasted really really good, but as our stomachs got filled with other foodies, the taste kinda diminished towards the end. As what I used to learn from econs, diminishing margin of returns. hahaha!

Thus this serving would be optimum for 4!

This is such a cool dessert advertisement! but we were too full.
Perhaps we would try it next time

Time for a haircut!
