Five and Dime with G.I Jo

Hello girls,

It's my first post to my blog using my new iPad and the blogger app today! Yay to another blog post up!

It's a cafe hopping post today, and we have settled on the much talked about Five and Dime cafe that sits at Rivervalley. With the help of directions savvy G and Jo's map app, we managed to walk there from somerset mrt after a good 15-20mins, including missing the green man indicator to cross the road while discussing G's outfit. #bimbotothemax

Thanks G for the post. Can you spot a glimpse of the green layering necklace from the gorgeous Cendrio gem set in store.

Kicking off our meet up which G's egg Benny's set.

And the waffles topped with the common chocolate and vanilla flavored ice cream. TBH, there was nothin fantastic about it

And a sneaky shot by yours truly of my girls also snapping away to accommodate my #instaaddict photo taking addition :p

New in store was this chocolate golden lava cake which caught G's eye

And there it is, the salty gold oozing out admist it's sweet moist cave. A pretty interesting dish I must say, but nothing really fantastic and worth 12SGD. I really still kinda prefer Bakerzin's cake or Carpenter and Cook's pastry (:

The full array of our desserts including the new Milo panna cotta that's pretty cold and creamy. About too gelat if you are gonna have it all to yourself

And here's our patterned theme outfit shot together and I finally get to wear my grandma-worthy-leopard-preen super comfy pants (: cheers to our 7 years of friendship and counting!

An ootd after 1000 failed shots cos the granny pants were really unkind to me for my ootds. And my pretty Jo.

Can't wait for the next outfit themed cafe hopping session with my girls.

Signing off,
G.I.Jo

P.s I'm really kinda proud of myself for coming up with this name for us. *chuckles* #cheapthrilltothemax

Carpenter and cook

Yay to cafe visiting! After a special jewel delivery yesterday, I managed to make a trip down to this much raved about quaint little cafe at Bukit Timah yesterday. It's old school striped "headgear" easily stands out amongst the shops just beside the road.

Be welcomed with a series of quaint and quirky decoration in this little cafe, which easily tugs the heartstrings of any girl

Love the interesting selection of homemade jams they offer!

And isn't this coffee machine an absolute darling?

And pans can really make quite a statement :p

Time to tuck in!

Passionfruit Meringue

This is so good. A refreshing selection from the usual cakes offered in cafes like starbucks and bakerzin (despite me being still a big fan of their cakes). Love how soft and fluffy the passionfruit meringue peaks are, melting together with the lemon custard cream and crispy tart skin. Definitely a must try here!

Chocolate sea salt camarel tart

After something tangy and sweet, it's time for my all-time favourite flavour- Chocolate!
Layers of chocolate sits on the caramel and topped with fine salt. This really brings chocolate tart up to the next level.

Washing the tangerine and sweet favours with the mint tea is definitely a good choice. And topped with having such a pretty victorian teacup admidst the enjoyable ambience, makes the tea all the more delectible.

All cleared as you can see. Their pastries really capture my tastebuds (:

Cladded in comfy wear, thankfully as it started to pour shortly after. Absolutely loving this new bag I got my hands on, spacious enough to contain all my nitty gritties!

Do try this cafe if you haven't! You will be glad you did (;

Stranger's reunion

Playing around with heaps of jewelry

Have been wanting to head to this much raved about cafe that is situated in Kampong Bahru. And two saturdays ago, le boy and I finally managed to make a trip down.

Love the little bunches of flowers and leaves stationed on each table, so pardon the many shots. It gives such a warming welcome to anyone who sits there (:

Needless to say, how could we miss out on the greatly talked about truffle fries! It was really pretty good, dipped into the truffle sauce, however, the portion was really too big for a 2 eater. It would have made a good snack for a big group of 4-6 though. Scroll down for photo comparisons

To combat the huge portion of fries and to be less carb-sinful, we opted for the squid dish. Was kinda disappointed when I first saw this dish served as it retailed at approx $17, but it was just a couple of pieces of deep fried squid.

I must say they were quite marinated but don't double up as a main dish. It seems to only be worthy of a deli snack for sharing.

Ya see what i mean, the portion of truffle fries was HUGE. no kidding. I think i would prolly swear off eating it for a few months.

How do I say no to cakes? We ordered this rich looking chocolate cake, but honestly found it just like any... normal chocolate cake

Honestly, don't feel that the money was well spent for this trip as we felt so gelat stuffing down the fries in an attempt not to waste food, and the overpriced deep fried squid and normal chocolate cake. I read that many people go there for the coffee and waffles. However, I don't drink coffee and am not a fan of waffles. So shrugs, oh well!

Perhaps just a good place to chill out with friends(:

Pasar Bella

Ohayo everyone! *waves*
Finally I can blog about some fun place that I dragged le bf to (:
After seeing many instagram posts, coupled with my inherent love for finding interesting places and Europe markets, we have finally made it to Pasar Bella over the weekend!

Insisting to snap a shot of the door, and resulting in a human obstruction *guilty*

Thank you kind people who didn't walk towards the door and allowed me to snap this shot! I didn't know that I could be seen from the inside of the door and was completely oblivious that I was obstructing people who were trying to make their way out. Until I was satisfied with my shot, made my way into the entrance, and overheard this lady saying I was trying to take a shot.

omigawd. how embarrassingggg.

I was completely stoked to have the bf give in into my over-excitedness on having to dine right beside the live seafood area. Easily excited over new stuff, yes thats me (:

GIANT oysters. omg! it's so huge and yet only $5! Great deal!
Instavideo of this place up at my instagram account: thedancingjewels.

You can see how huge the oyster is, in comparison with my fingers on the video (;

Like a broken tape recorder, I kept going, omg, so good. sooooo good repeatedly over the meal.
Love the cheesy, buttery sauce.

*slurps*

The oyster is sooo huge that it's only a little smaller than my face :p

Absolutely love how you can get a beer there, and walk around the stores for shopping, without anyone staring like you as if you are a weirdo. Just like how I savoured strawberries while walking along Barcelona.

Oh those memories, how you have been missed.

Do save some time for Pasar Bella! I really love this place and I'll be back for some seafood paella the next trip (;
